Love is a beautiful surprise! But this time Bob Shellard had to surprise his wife in a different way to celebrate their 67th wedding anniversary. Due to alarms over the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, the surprise was all from outside the Windows in the nursing home in Vernon, Connecticut.
This is the first-ever wedding anniversary there were celebrating apart. As Bob’s wife suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia she was staying at the Nursing Home for the treatments. While these two love birds were barred from face-to-face interaction for 30 days, he used to come by every day to visit her.
Due to the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, the nursing home is restricted to visitors. As with the Health officials, seniors are at a high risk of Coronavirus it was the reason to ban the visitors at the Nursing Home where Bob’s wife was treated. But anyway, none of the bans made Bob and Nancy’s situation less heartbreaking. It was a very heart touching moment for everyone watching.
As to what Bob said, this has made him feel bad because he wanted her down with him. And adding to it Bob told to NBC Connecticut that he wouldn’t want anybody else and he knows she could not put up with anybody else as all she wants is him.
But Bob did not failed in making the occasion extra special. Bob was holding his sign of love saying that he had loved her for 67 years and still do, he waited with a board outside the window.
In this emotional conversation, Nancy blew a kiss and waved her beloved husband. Succeeding their unplanned, touching anniversary celebration, Bob and Nancy’s daughter Laura was saying this strong and precious relationship was a big lesson to her life and she really admires the sweetness of it every day. She says this is a fine example for everyone to learn to care for each other.
The coronavirus pandemic has influenced lives in a number of ways so as to Bob and Nancy. But this is it a very strong example shows the best side of humanity. Bob’s commitment to his wife is a true sign of never-ending love.
So aren’t they inspiring?
