With COVID-19 pandemic going around the world, all nations face a serious issue of providing medical supplies. And there, the lack of face masks is very serious which has made people simply make their own. While things go like this, Ashley Lawrence came with something different from a different viewpoint. She is a college student has thought of making masks for the deaf and hard of hearing community. So this is something not everyone sees. And at a moment novel Coronavirus cases are going up day by day, it is important to ensure you have sufficient medical items. There, Ashley has decided to join this cause considering those who are in the need.
Knowing there is a lack of masks suitable for deaf and hard of hearing, she entered the battle
Asley is a student who studies deaf education at Eastern Kentucky University. She is just 21 years old and currently in Quarantine. So here she gets the idea of making a new face Mask for those who are in the special need as she got to know the shortage of Face mask providing all over the world. And for those who are deaf, it is even more trouble.
As she has said, she got inspired by this idea when she found people contribute to make face masks and help the community through social media. So she has then got the idea about how this relates to deaf and hard of hearing.
With the idea in mind, she has asked for help from her mom. And then, the idea worked. It features a plastic window different from an ordinary mask which is completely closed. So this will help in catching sign language and will let easier lip-reading as a way of communication.
Once she has completed her work, she has posted it on social media(Facebook) catching a lot of attention. As for the moment, she is making as much as is capable. And here she is sending them free to those who have the need. However, when the demand gets up, she is planning to provide a tutorial letting everyone knows how to create your own mask.
