Actually, these instructions require that you own the Minecraft Java Edition. If you want, you can purchase and download the Minecraft Java Edition easily. If you already own Minecraft Java Edition, you can go to the second step.

  •  Then you have to get the latest version of Java.

When you are going to set up a Minecraft server it is very important to make sure you have the latest version of Java installed. Actually, Minecraft requires Java to run the game. If you have the latest version, it will help you to run your server without issues.

So you have to install the latest version of Java. Once there, you have to click the red Java download button. Then you can read and accept the terms by clicking the red “Agree and Start Free Download” button.

Now you can find the Java setup run file in the download folder of your computer. So you have to open the Downloads folder. In the downloads folder, you can find the JavaSetup executable file.

Then you can run this application. You will see a popup window asking if the application can make changes to your computer. So you have to click to allow access. Also, you may be asked to provide a password for these permissions. Once the application loads, you should click to install Java. Usually keeping an older version does not help with the server setup.

The next step you must take is downloading and setting up the actual Minecraft server folder.

  • You have to download the Minecraft Server.

How can you download the Minecraft server? First of all, you have to download the Server.jar file from the Minecraft website. Once you come to the page, you have to click the Download Minecraft server jar link.

Before you run this .jar file you have to create a folder. To do this, you have to go to your desktop. Then right-click on an open space. Next, you have to go to New > Folder and then you can click to create a new empty folder. Once it is clicked it will let you change the name of the folder. So you have to name it. Now you have to return to your Downloads folder the same way. And you have to right-click on the Server.jar to copy it as you will paste it into the new folder you made in the next step.

If you have copied the Server.jar,  you should return to your desktop and open the server folder you made earlier. Next right-click in the empty folder and paste in the copied .jar file.

You have to right-click on this server file and press open to run the application. This will make some configuration files you will need for your server. Also, they will be neatly placed in the new folder.

Also, you need to accept the EULA agreement in order. Now your new server is officially launched and ready to go. If they are on the same internet connection your server is set up on, players should be able to find your server game in the multiplayer tab.

And if you want to run the server so your friends can join your game from a different internet connection.

Before you cover playing globally with your friends, you have to cover some commands you can use with our server as well as some server customization.

What are the commands to run the server?

If you create a batch file you can use it to launch your server and help it run smoother to prevent as much lag as possible.

So first of all you have to create a new text document that you will save as a .bat file. You have to go into your server folder. Next, you have to right-click to create a new text document.

Once you have named this document, it can be easily recognizable as the file that will start our server. Once it is renamed, you have to double click to open the document. And then you can add in the text.

Next, you need to save this file. So you have to go to File > Save As to save this file as you will be changing it to a batch file instead of a text document. Once in the save as menu, you have to go down to where it says save as a text document. And change this to all files. This lets you change the type of file it will be saved as. After that, you have to delete the old text document.

How can you set up Server Properties?

So you have to open the server properties file. Now you will see a lot of text sections.

The “gamemode=survival” property determines the game mode you and your players will play on the server by default.

The “spawn-monsters=true” is a property that tells the server monsters and dangerous enemies will appear. The command line “enable-command-block=false”. What is it? It is a line that disables the use of the programming command block in the server.

Also, you can let your friends connect to your server if they are not on the same local connection. It is called Port forwarding. Also, you have to connect to your Minecraft Server to get a good experience. Playing with a Modded Server is a fantastic experience. If you want you can create your own Minecraft Mods too.
